Several days following throat or skin
infection by certain bacteria, inflammation of the glomeruli (tufts of
capillaries in the kidney) may occur. This inflammation, called
glomerulonephritis, may result in red bloods cells entering the urine where
they breakdown releasing their contents thereby causing the urine to have a
dark or smoky color resembling coca-cola – coca-cola colored urine.
